Upon arrival you will notice a gate with a Charleston Woodlands Banner attached to it. The front gate may be closed, if so code is 2246: Please close and lock the gate behind you. Once you enter the property Bailey's Field will be on your left. The campsites are around the perimeter of Bailey's Field along the tree line where Electrical hook-ups can be found on posts. Campsites are not assigned and are first come first serve.
Campers have access to the GREEN trails indicated on the following map. This is a google map and can be used on a mobile device to see where you are located on the trail. All campers must stay within the Red Boundary Line indicated on the map. NO VEHICLES are allowed beyond the camping area(s) and must remain on road(s).
Guests have access to bathrooms and showers at the Bath House in Bailey's Field located at the front of the property. See map for reference. All guests are asked to bring their own soap and towels.
FISHING: Fishing is aloud but campers must purchase a fishing day pass.
NO SWIMMING: We have plenty of reptiles, including snakes and alligators, so no swimming is allowed.
FIRE WOOD: No outside firewood. Campers are welcome to forage for wood. Campers are not to leave fires unattended at any time.
PETS: Pets are NOT allowed.
VEHICLES & GUESTS: Campers are allowed (1) Vehicle and up to 4 guests.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS: The property is located in unincorporated Dorchester County and is under the jurisdiction of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s office and is served by Old Fort Fire Department and Dorchester County EMS. In the event of emergency, dial 911 and tell the operator that you are in Dorchester County in order to have the correct agency dispatched.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR VISITORS
We, at Middleton Place and Charleston Woodlands (the “Woodlands”), are pleased to welcome you. We kindly ask that our visitors familiarize themselves and act in accordance with the following rules and policies:
RULES FOR ALL VISITORS
This webpage includes a map of the premises and those areas that are open to the public. Know where you’re permitted to hike, camp or ride and where you’re not. Respect closed areas. Do not trespass any areas outside the marked trails and camping areas.
Respect the beauty of the Woodlands. Help us maintain this beautiful land in pristine condition for generations to come. Absolutely no littering allowed. Make use of trashcans or take with you when you leave any garbage or litter. Do not discard any trash, paper or cigarette butts on the trails or in camping area. If you smoke, return any butts to the proper receptacles. Do not throw anything on the lakes or streams.
Possession/use of illegal drugs is prohibited.
Please, be aware of your surroundings, and of any incoming (non-motor) traffic in the trails.
You must camp only in those places specifically provided or marked.
Campers are allowed (1) Vehicle per Campsite
All vehicles, RVs, and trailers must be parked on your campsite or designated parking area. Parking on unoccupied campsites is prohibited.
Quiet times are between 11:00pm and 6:00am. Please be considerate of others.
Fires are permitted only in designated areas. Please do not attempt to burn trash in fire pits. Be sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving. Do not leave your fire unattended. You are responsible for keeping fires under control.
Use of fireworks or other explosives within campgrounds and other recreation areas is prohibited.
Please keep alcoholic beverages at your campsite, and be respectful of your neighbors and other visitors.
